Monday

So I am sitting at Chicago midway thinking about how party planners and fashion designers are one in the same. Actually I am not thinking that - just wanted an excuse to tell this story,

A few years back I was in a restaurant in New York. The details are a little fuzzy - maybe it was the Bellinis, anyway I remember having a conversation with a lovely man and we got on the topic of my idol Colin Cowie. He proclaimed to have Mr. Cowies personal email address. Well a few days later my resume went to that address - never heard a word.
Fast forward a few years to this October in Lake Las Vegas. I had the privilege through my work to attend a Colin Cowie produced event. I also was fortunate to meet the man and have not one but two conversations with him. At the end of the evening I had gathered the nerve to tell him about the resume and guess what he had remembered the girl from Mississippi who was working in DC. Of course that's not true, but how fun would the story have been if it were.
Nite!
I actually wrote this on Thursday and am just now posting.....

Whew.....

It has been two months since I last wrote something. There is so much that has been going on and I always intend to update, but just really haven't found the time. Lets be real though - I wanted to leave the Gilt Group sign in up as long as possible so I could garner some more $25.00 credits! Seriously though, I think when I have the time I am without my laptop. So, I need to take advantage of the many airports I visit and the fact that I love to get to an airport early. So that is what I am going to do - starting this week!

Anyway there has been lots of great fashion news recently. One of the things I am most excited about is my all time favorite designer, Tom Ford, has announced he will create his own women's line. Everything I have read makes it seem it could be here as soon as Fall 2010 - I sure do hope so. however, it seems that financing is the major set back right now (love having someone in the same boat as me!) Lets cross our fingers and hope that it gets her sooner rather than later - so ready to see the clothes!

GILT.....

I have spent many hours and many dollars on the online retail site www.gilt.com. Gilt Groupe is basically an online sample sale site. Gilt carries apparel, accessories, and decor from top designer brands like Zac Posen, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, and Marchesa to name a few.… All of these are late season or last season merchandise and many up to 70% off. For those who have found themselves in the red each month because of gilt group you can now breath easy because this month Gilt Groupe launched a new site featuring discounted designer clothes targeted to consumers in their 20s and 30s who have a tighter budget. Gilt Fuse will carry popular brands at deeper discounts than the original gilt.com does.

Gilt Groupe is by invitation only - so to join click on the lick below and enjoy beautiful clothes at even more beautiful prices....

Once again I am way to early for a flight. The Atlanta airport is not one of my favorites, but its certainly not the worst. Anyway, the last month has been really busy. Lots of travel and lots of work, but as always a good bit of fun mixed in. I didn't realize it had been so long since I last posted. The girls weekend was a lot of fun. Here is is a picture of all the crazies.

Thursday

This weekend

Tomorrow night I will head out on over to Moon Lake outside of Clarksdale, Mississippi for a weekend filled of who knows what. Last year we were all in shock as a former classmate was murdered. Actually it was all a horrible stab at doing a murder mystery party. If you ever try to do one of those make sure you do with a group of mature individuals not a bunch of 30 year old moms and wives. I am really looking forward to seeing what this weekend has in store. I always feel lucky to have such a close group of friends.

Yay or Nay

I have always been a fan of Rachel Bilson and her style. I believe she can wear anything and look downright cute. I am not 100% sure if I like this look or not. However, because she is wearing it I have to give it a yay! Now, if it were her former, now in psych ward co-star, I would probably say Nay.

Goodbye Sue

Starting in the Summer of 1988 my life began to take shape and my favorite color for any outfit changed to navy blue. However on Sunday's my choice of color was white. I spent the next 6 summers wearing plenty of navy and lots of white. I am and always will be a member of the Creek tribe of Camp Desoto. I learned a lot those years about friendship, family, and faith. I will never forget the summers of never getting thirsty, Christmas in July, and always being unapologetically square. The memory I will take with me most was the friendship and guidance of Camp Director Sue Henry. I never met a lady like her and I don't think I ever will. Sue left this world today and while I never knew if she preferred the color red, green, or navy, I do know that she loved the color white and as I type I know she is standing on a white cloud with the receiving the biggest white wings the heavens have ever seen and that my friends is an outfit we should all strive to have. Sue we will all miss you, but we will never forget you.

Wednesday

Romper Room!!!!

.........Well not exactly. I wanted to point out that I have noticed a lot of young women pulling out the rompers/jumpsuits this summer. Rompers and Jumpsuits have been around for years. One wonders what it is that sends the trend to the masses. I have been pretty busy lately so haven't really had my eye on the celeb magazines. I can only speculate that some widely followed celebrity adorned a very cute romper. I don't think at my age I can pull it off. This is only because I am short and if I put heels with it - well I have an image in my head that puts me on the corner on somewhere not good. Anyway, here are some really cute ones for those of you with fabulous long legs! Oh and I have not idea who Miss June and Andy are - so don't ask.....

Tuesday

Belts

I have a lot of solid pieces in my summer wardrobe that I have had for some time and am not quite ready to part with them. I feel safe in saying that I am not the only one. If you are like me and want to add a little color to your old standards you can never go wrong with a bright colored belt. Belts were all over the runway in the spring collections and you can find them anywhere and for any price. I have posted some of my favorites for summer.

I found these belts at anthropologie and net-a-porter. However, check out your favorite store or online retailer and I guarantee you will find the perfect belt that fits your style. Oh and for all you preppies don't go thinking a pink and green D-Ring is your touch of color!

Wednesday

Travel Travel and More Travel

Since I last posted I have been in Seattle, WA, all over Oregon, Key West, Florida, and Memphis, TN and New Albany, MS. I am back in Jackson today only to head to Santa Monica, CA on Friday. I cannot complain as it has all been so much fun! Part work and part play.

Over the weekend my older brother Haywood finally got married to the most wonderful lady in the world. I am so happy that Lisa Wagner is my sister in law!

Last night I was in New Albany, MS at the courthouse downtown eagerly awaiting the election results. One of the candidates running is not only my best friend and mentor, but my mother. We had a great night and a small victory as mom will face the incumbent in a run off on May 19th. If you read this and are from New Albany please vote for Betsey on May 19th! She is the best candidate for the job!

VOTE BETSEY!!!!!
MAY 19th

I am also working on a big announcement for One Eye Toad. We have held off on making one until we know EXACTLY what we want to say and how we want to say it, but I promise it will be well worth the wait! Exciting times for the Hamiltons!

I promise to have tons of pictures to post soon. I have been terrible about getting my pictures downloaded! I have pictures from Jan. still dying to be displayed.

I hope you are all doing well and that your May has started off as fabulous as mine!
